W9BSA
Radio Scouting
The Northwest Suburban Council received its first amateur radio license KB9LEA on July 25, 1995. and was first used at a district Camp-O-Ree in the fall of that year. In August of 1997, the trustee of the councils license applied to the FCC for the vanity call sign of W9BSA. This new distinctive call W9BSA became effective on October 15,1997. Prior to receiving a license for the council, the call signs of the station trustee. WB9JKZ and W9LM were used. For several years the Council was granted permission to use the call sign of the Boy Scouts of America for Jamboree on the Air and other special events and signed K2BSA/9. All operations of the Council will now be using the call sign W9BSA.
