W9BSA Radio Merit Badge
The Radio Merit badge is offered by the Boy Scouts to give the Scout the opportunity to become interested in the hobby of Amateur Radio and to provide the Scouts with a vision of broadcast radio and shortwave listening and possible vocations in the radio communications industry. The merit badge is not a complicated badge to earn. It can be earned over several days of study and listening to shortwave frequencies, logging stations heard and visiting an Amateur radio or broadcast station. In reality it is one of the easier merit badges to earn. If Scouts are interested in earning this badge, it's recommended that they obtain the Radio Merit Badge booklet from the council office. Scouts should see their Scoutmasters or Advancement Chairman for a list of counselors in their area.
